Stages of how wounds heal.

Wounds are usually breaks in skin – the outer layer being termed as epidermis. They are caused by scrapes or cuts. Wounds are of different types and could be treated differently from each other depending on how serious they are and how they happen.

There are four stages for the healing of wound:-

1. Inflammatory phase: - This starts with the injury. Here, the blood vessels narrow, bleed, clot forms and several chemicals are released into the wound starting the healing process. Over several days, specialized cells clear the debris wound.
2. Proliferative phase: - In this phase, the latticework or matrix of cell begins to form in which new blood vessels and skins grow. It is these capillaries that give purple red or pink appearance to the wound.
3. Remodeling phase: - It starts after two or three weeks. The collagen becomes more organized and makes the tissue stronger. Over six months, it enhances in strength to reach 70 % of strength of uninjured skin.


4. Epithelialization: - In this process, a new skin is laid down which then becomes a barrier between body and outer environment. The primary purpose is to protect against loss of water and bacteria. Its reconstruction starts within few hours getting completed in 24 in sutured and clean wound. As inflammatory process gets prolonged, open wounds may take seven to ten days.

Parents need to understand that younger children are mostly confused by inappropriate, violent or other harmful content that they get to see online. Monitor what your kids may be posting and speak to them in case they behave inappropriately and watch adult sites. Better still, subscribe to good software that restricts your children from watching porn sites or any other website which may irk adults.
