Move to the Blue Ridge Mountains

Each year many people vacation in the Blue Ridge Mountains to get away from their urban lives for a few days.  It is a wonderful place to visit, but an even better place to live.

Living in South Western Virginia is an alternative to growing city populations. Here a few common questions people ask when considering this type of move:

Question - Isn’t it a little primitive living in the rural area?

Answer - There are a few things that you might miss, but not many.  Many areas have access to high speed internet through a normal DSL connection. Most towns are not too far from larger cities where you can get all the fast food and shopping done that you need.  Just think how long it takes you now to cross town in traffic. Well, in the rural communities you might have a little distance to drive, but you end up being in the car the same amount of time since there isn’t an issue with traffice.

Question - Are people really like those depicted on the Andy Griffith Show?

Answer - There are several long time locals that have many generations from their town.  But it really depends on which small town you pick.  There is something for everyone.  Yes, you can find a small town where everyone is from that town and will die in that town.  Yet, there are several small towns that have a small town atmostphere, yet are filled with moveins from other areas.  And then you have everything in between.  Even in these towns with moveins, you will still find that small town feel.  We recommend that you visit a few different places to decide which type of small town you want to live in.

Questions - I love the idea, where do I start?
Answer - First, contact a local realtor.  If you are interested in looking into the South Western Virginia area, contact Keystone Design, Inc. They are experianced in property in that area.  Having lived in the area, they can help direct you to the perfect property.

Don’t put it off.  Make plans now to visit a few towns to decide where you can live in the peace of the rural country.  It is not something you can put off any longer.
