Why do people choose timber frame construction?

Monday, March 31st, 2008

There are many good reasons why timber frame is the fastest growing method of construction in the UK. It has the best environmental and sustainability credentials. Timber frame usually considers as high build quality, a faster and more efficient construction process. It also gives the architects more opportunity to design beautiful, adaptable homes, for the timber is easier to shape than other materials, such as the bricks.

In many parts of the world, timber frame is norm-an engineered and proven system. Now, let’s see some statistics about this market around the world. Over 70% of people in the developed world live in timber frame housing. In the United States, and Canada it accounts for 90% of low-rise buildings. For more you can contact Texas Architectural Timbers.

Timber frame is the most popular form of house construction in Scotland. Timber frame housing is also used effectively in hot climates, including parts of Australia, Malaysia and elsewhere.

Local Community Sites

There are several small town sites online.  Here are a few we like to visit.

Floyd Country Virginia

Floyd Country Virginia

The first is a small town in South Western Virginia in the mountains - Floyd, County.

Floyd has a lot of charm for a small town in rural Virginia.

There are many artisans living and working in the area. If you are interested in talking to a professional Realtor that knows the area, contact Olin Griffin.

Bulverde, Texas Online

Bulverde, Texas Online

Another great town is located just north of San Antonio Texas in the Hill Country - Bulverde, Texas.

Bulverde is about 15 minutes north of San Antonio.  The area has a wonderful small town feel for being this close to a major city.

Being north of the city puts it in the Texas Hill Country where you can take advantage of the beautiful views and the relaxing breeze common to this area.

If you decide to visit this area and move to this area you will want to take advantage of a local business network, Bulverde First Business Networking Group.  This small group is comprised of several local family businesses that can help you once you are here.

Auto Pinstriping as an art?

car1Yes, it is now.  If you are a car buff, this is already something you know and appreciate.  But for all those that consider art only what you find hanging on the wall of the Met, this may be hard to understand.

This art form has always been around.  You can find several places listing in your local phone book that claim to do auto pin-striping.  We are not talking about this type of place.  For a true art form, you need to check out the work of Tom VanNortwick.

VanNortwick is the premier artist in his field.  Only doing custom one of a kind pin-striping.

For a full experience of him and his art, you should check out his online gallery.

Move to the Blue Ridge Mountains

Friday, February 29th, 2008

Each year many people vacation in the Blue Ridge Mountains to get away from their urban lives for a few days.  It is a wonderful place to visit, but an even better place to live.

Living in South Western Virginia is an alternative to growing city populations. Here a few common questions people ask when considering this type of move:

Question - Isn’t it a little primitive living in the rural area?

Answer - There are a few things that you might miss, but not many.  Many areas have access to high speed internet through a normal DSL connection. Most towns are not too far from larger cities where you can get all the fast food and shopping done that you need.  Just think how long it takes you now to cross town in traffic. Well, in the rural communities you might have a little distance to drive, but you end up being in the car the same amount of time since there isn’t an issue with traffic.

Question - Are people really like those depicted on the Andy Griffith Show?

Floyd Virginia Land

Answer - There are several long time locals that have many generations from their town.  But it really depends on which small town you pick.  There is something for everyone.  Yes, you can find a small town where everyone is from that town and will die in that town.  Yet, there are several small towns that have a small town atmosphere, yet are filled with move-ins from other areas.  And then you have everything in between.  Even in these towns with move-ins, you will still find that small town feel.  We recommend that you visit a few different places to decide which type of small town you want to live in.

Questions - I love the idea, where do I start?
Answer - First, contact a local realtor.  If you are interested in looking into the South Western Virginia area, contact a Floyd Virginia realtor. They are experienced in property in that area.  Having lived in the area, they can help direct you to the perfect property.

Don’t put it off.  Make plans now to visit a few towns to decide where you can live in the peace of the rural country.  It is not something you can put off any longer.

Getting a Reliable Janitorial Service

Tuesday, January 29th, 2008

It doesn’t seem to be asking too much to have a janitorial service do a good job at cleaning your office.  But apparently there are a lot of services that just do not have their act together.

Before hiring a janitorial service, ask a lot of questions.  If they are offended, then move on.  A professional service will realize that you want to know a lot about them and their services.  Get a list of current clients that you can call as a referral.
